The Friendly Confines

I will admit that although I grew up with two sports loving brothers and a grandpa who will watch any sporting event that is on tv, I never really got into sports until I was about 17 or 18. Now I love to watch ESPN, ComCast, and games. I have also done some "research" and have taught myself alot about sports (mostly baseball and my favorite team- the Cubs!). I joke around that I had to become a self-educated sports fan because my grandpa favored my brothers (he really didn't) because they are always talking about and bonding over sports, and I was a little sick of being leftout. So I set out to impress them and it's worked. Now they will actually call/text me during games to talk about it with me!

Anyways, when I was 18 we got my grandpa Cubs tickets for Father's Day. That was my first trip to Wrigley. I have been twice since then. I love that place. The atmoshpere there is amazing. And I love the old historic look and feel of the stadium. Wrigley really is someplace special. If you've never been there I suggest you go. Even if you aren't a Cubs fan, but you just like the sport (or even if you don't!) that place has a lot of history and you can feel how much the fans (and the city of Chicago) love and respect their team and the game.

I get to go back to Wrigley 3 times this summer. And I will get to see 3 great games. My brother's girlfriend got us *free* Cubs/White Sox tickets (which are near impossible to get anyways, much less for free) for next month! And my wonderful little brother got me tickets to two of the Cubs/Cardinals games in August. I am so excited! I don't think I've ever wanted summer to go by this quickly! :)

Someday I think it would be awesome to go to all of the major league ballparks in the US and take in a game. I also want to go the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. My grandparents went there last fall and I was so jealous. It sounded amazing.

But, until I get to do that stuff, I will settle for trips to Wrigley and watching my Cubbies on tv. GO CUBS GO!! :)

Vacation, what?

My summer classes start on Monday, and I already have to read 2 chapters for one of them, and 9 readings (which is about 100 pages) for the other. I knew I wasn't going to have any big break from school work, but come on!! I was hoping for at least 2 days that I wouldn't have to do anything! I am already being a bad student and putting off the readings until later this weekend. So with that, I am going to bed! Good night!

Thinking about a serious return...

So, I just revisited some of my old posts and realized how horrible I am at this blogging thing. It has been over two years since I last posted. Geez... I couldn't even remember my password or long-on name! I am making it my summer committment to blog at least once a week. I spend about 20% (or something like that... math isn't my strong subject) of my day mindlessly surfing the internet so I figure why not blog during that time. So hopefully I can stick with it. It is going to be a crazy busy summer...

I am taking 4 classes this summer plus working 23 hours a week. Three of my classes are 3 hours a day, 5 days a week, for 3 weeks. Well, technically 9 weeks. My classes run one after another, so once the first 3 weeks are over, I will start my second class. Then when those 3 weeks are up I start my third class. My fourth class is an on-line class that will last 4 weeks. It is during the first part of summer. I am excited to take these classes because taking them now means I get to graduate on time (May 2009!!) but I was thinking I would get a break between spring and summer terms. I was wrong. I had my last spring final this morning and my summer classes start Monday. So I only get a three-day weekend.

As for my job, I'm hoping it won't be too much on top of school. I am working at a gym teaching gymnastics and tumbling and I love it!! The kids are so great and I laugh everyday at work. And I love my co-workers. I just transferred to a new school/town last fall and I feel so at home here partially because of my job. I'm going to miss it so much when I graduate. But I still have a year until that happens.

Alright, now that I've probably bored any one who reads this to tears, I am going to sign off. I will blog later this week about more exciting and entertaining things... or not. You will just have to come back and find out! :)
