Well, the past 2 weeks have been pretty... well exciting for my family. Maybe exciting isn't the best word but I'm tired and nothing else is popping in to my head right away. Stressful perhaps? Yeah that seems like a better word. Ok here's the story.
Two weekends ago my parents came to visit me for the weekend at school and left my 17 yr. old brother JP home alone for 1 night. My brother is usually a pretty good kid. We have had some very hard times in the past 5 years and he has had a little bit of trouble dealing with everything. In 2000 our dad had an affair and moved out for a while. Ever since then neither of us have had a very good relationship with him. That has been especially hard on JP because now he doesn't really have a good male role model/father figure to look up to. He did look up to my uncle, until he passed away in 2003. He has always looked up to our older brother JC, but last Nov. we found out JC was involved in drugs and the such. JC went to rehab and JP has still sort of looked up to him. My grandpa has also been someone JP has looked up to but in the last 2 years my grandpa had changed and is starting to fall apart emotionally and sometimes it seems mentally too.
Anywho, while my parents were gone, JP asked JC (who is still battling his addiction but lives with my grandparents) to buy him some beer. JC being the "wonderfully cool" (sarcasim) older brother that he is agreed to do so. JP then invited a few friends out to our house to drink. They didn't stay at our house long because they went to another party somewhere else. Well, while they were at our house my mom called to check in. JP told her they were at his friends house. It was a pretty convincing lie- until my mom heard our dog barking in the background. JP tried to pass it off by telling her it was his friends dog, but my mom knew better.
That was Saturday night.
Tuesday evening JP called me to ask me if I had talked to mom. I told him no then asked why. He told me he thought she might have found out that he was at the party at his friends house, but made no mention of the shindig he threw. Later Tuesday night my mom called me and told me what my brother did. She was highly disappointed because 1. she does not condone drinking (of course) and 2. alcholoism runs in our family (my older brother and my grandpa on my dads side, and maybe a few others) so it is something my brother and I both know not to mess with.
Another thing about JP. He does not like to share his emotions and he does NOT like to "talk". He will usually get an "attitude" when my mom tries to talk to him about anything, even simple things like school or football practice. This causes quite a few conflicts between him and my mom. JP gets "tired of mom grilling him all the time" (even when shes really not) and mom gets tired of him "having an attitude all the time" (even when he sometimes doesn't). And I get tired of feeling like I'm stuck in the middle of it sometimes (even when I'm not)!
Well last weekend JP and one of his friends, SE, came down to stay with me for the weekend. We didn't do a whole lot. There were definately no parties! I tried to use my good influence on JP to show him that he doesn't need to drink ot have fun. Hopefully it worked!
Oh, and what about my older brother who was the one responsible for getting JP the beer you ask? My grandparents talked to him and told him "never to do that again". Yeah, I'm sure THAT will work. If only... So now my mom and my grandparents (mostly my grandparents b/c that's where JC lives) have decided revise and inforce the rules we came up with for JC to follow in order to stay at my grandparents house. We came up with those rules when JC moved in with them in March, but nobody has inforced them. Some of those rules were of course NO drugs, no drinking, no girls in the house, random drug tests, and continued treatment. JC is at the bars every weekend, there have been zero drug tests, no continued treatment, and we are pretty sure he is still using.
Some evidence we have that he is still using we discovered very recently. My aunt and uncle were visiting my family this weekend and everyone except my uncle and JC were at my mom's house. My uncle was still at my grandparents because he was getting ready to go hunting and went to use the bathroom. When he walked into the bathroom the window was open and he could smell pot. Yes, pot. And seeing how everyone in my family was at my mom's house except my older brother, you can probably put two and two together.
After my uncle told my aunt about what happened she called my grandma and told her. My grandma's response? "Well we asked him the other night if he was using and he said no." Hmm, let's think about this, shall we? We have a drug addict who we also know to be a compulsive liar, but he says he's not using, so you believe him? Something about that just doesn't sound right.
My mom thinks that my grandparents should have kicked JC out when they found out he bought beer for my little brother. I agree with her. Actually, I think that JC should have been out months ago. In my opinion, JC had disrespected and underappreciated my mom, my grandparents and my whole family. He has not changed his life style at all since he entered rehab. He has continued to lie, manipulate, drink and use drugs. He knows, even without us reminding him or telling him, that those things are completely unacceptable. He was told that in rehab.
I love my brother very much and don't want to see him hurting or in trouble. But, I also want to see him clean and living life right. If him being out on the street, or whatever, is what it takes for that to happen, then I am fine with that. I think that him living with my grandparents is hurting everyone and making everyone's life much more stressful. He is an unhealthy influence on my younger brother and causes my mom and grandparents alot of stress. Unfortunately, my grandparents will not "kick him out", as bad as it sounds, and because they won't do that they are enabling him. I know they are just trying to help him and don't want to see him hit rock bottom, but at this point they need to just let him go because hitting rock bottom might just be what my brother needs. My mom has tried to tell them this, but they don't seem to listen. I wonder if they would think any differently if I talked to them and told them how I feel?
Ohmygosh! This is one long post! And I'm not so sure all of it makes sense but I feel alot better getting it out! Until next time... :)

Umm... guys, I think we need a map...
***This one is going on my list of things to never tell my mom about. Or maybe the "things-I'm-not-telling-mom-about-until-I'm-30" list. I haven't decided yet...
This weekend Kay's boyfriend, CS, came to our school with some of his buddies from his school b/c they were playing in a flag football tourney. Saturday morning CS called Kay at like 8:00 to let us know that they were in town and getting ready to start the first game, so Kay and I, being the good friends and fans we are, dragged our butts out of bed and went to watch them play. We missed their first game but made it for their second one at 11:00. We were like the only 2 fans there... what fun!
Anyway, to the point... Saturday night we went out to eat with CS and a few of his friends. After dinner me, Kay, CS, and his friend DB decided we wanted to go out and do something while the rest of the guys went back to the hotel. Me and Kay were all for going to a local dance club, but the boys didn't like that idea to well. So we headed in the city to find something to do.
And when I say city I mean St. Louis. And when I say to "find" something to do I mean find, look, seek out, search. We had no idea of what to do, no idea of where to go, and no map.
We finally decided to go check out the City Museum (from now on refered to as TCM), which is like a giant play-ground. It has all the climbing things like Jungle of Fun does, only it's big enough for adults to do too. Fortunately, I had just looked it up on the internet on Thursday so I slightly remembered what street it was on.
****IMPORTANT NOTE: 1) I've never driven in big city traffic. I'm from a small country town. 2)I've only been in downtown St. Louis like, a few times, and most of them were when I was young. I did go to a concert there a few months ago so I had a vague- no very vague, idea of where about 3 streets were.****
So, here I am, driving us into downtown St. Louis at 9:45 PM, with no idea where to go. All I know to do was look for the street that TCM was on. We drove around for about 20 minutes before I called a friend who knew where TCM was for directions. But after I got off the phone with her, we got even more lost and had to call her back 30 minutes later. After that it took us another 25 minutes after that to find the freakin' place.
Once we found the place we decided not to go in b/c it wasn't worth the 8 bucks to get in plus the $5 parking fee for 2 hours and the boys were kind of tired from playing football all day and they still had games Sunday morning. That made me a little bit mad b/c I wasted all that gas to drive around for like 1 1/2 hours and do nothing. But we stil had fun.
The whole time we were driving DB was talking to people out the window. Not like yelling or being mean, b/c I would have killed him, but just saying random things to people. He told some couple walking their dogs that their dogs were beautiful. He was pretty funny and made being lost not as bad as it could have been. He had never been to STL before so he was amazed at the Arch and kept telling me to drive back by it... which I did about 6 times, but not on purpose. We saw just about every landmark/big important building/stadium/park in downtown STL at least 4 times.
Once we left STL we took the boys back the their hotel and came back to campus and went to bed. Yup. Another exciting night in life of a college student.
In other news:
I went to court today to get my court supervision. I'm not sure how long I have it for or when it starts or anything. But I have 4 motnth to pay $160, so hopefully I can get a job by then! Or make money some how! Christmas falls in that time frame so maybe I'll just ask for money this year... hmm...
Oh yeah, I did end up tell my mom about being lost in STL. She just shook her head and said she wasn't sure if she wanted to know that kind of stuff. Haha. I love her... :)
Well I'm off to study and go to bed! Have a good week everyone! :)

You call that a movie???
Ok, so I just got back from the movie "A History of Violence". It has Viggo Mortensen, Maria Bello, William Hurt and Ed Harris. It was horrible. It started out with a little bit of potential, then it all just went downhill, fast. It had no plot and it threw in some totally random scenes. Towards the beginning it showed a totally random scene of the main character and his wife getting it on... it was pretty graphic. For a minute I thought it was going to be a porn. And I couldn't figure out how it was revelant to the plot (or the lack-there-of). There were a few other spots in the movie like that too. Oh, yeah, there were also some way-to-gorey... umm... I guess you would call them "fight" scenes, although there wasn't really much fighting or action, just alot of killing. Bloody, brutal, seemingly pointless killing.
It was just bad... a waste of $6.75...

WEEEEEE!!
Today started off to be pretty boring. I only have one class on Thursdays at 11:00 and it is supppose to last until 12:15. We had a test today (it's a Psychology class by the way) so it was like 11:45 when I got done and left. I grabbed a sandwhich from Chick-fil-A (I admit... I didn't get what the big deal was about that place at first... but now, I am a border-line addict! I eat there 2 times a day some days! I need CA! Chick-fil-A-ers Annon. Haha.) Anyways, after getting my lunch, I headed back to my room to enjoy it. At about 1:00 my friend "Joe" came to my room to see if I wanted to go eat. I already had, he left, ate, then came back. Around 2 my roommate got back from class so we just sat and watched some tv. Joe decided he was going to take a nap on my bed, so my roomie and I crawled into her bed to do the same. (We have pretty big beds)
That's when things started to turn around. (Not what you're thinking you sickos!)
Kay (my roomate) and I weren't all that tired and got into a "giggly" mood. We kept laughing at nothing and Joe wasn't sure what to think of us. He decided that stealing our blanket would shut us up.
He was WRONG.
We laughed harder. And harder. And harder.
So he took more blankets.
More laughter.
By that time we had no blankets on Kay's bed and we were laughing/complaining about it, so Joe took all the blankets off my bed too.
ALL of them. ALL.
It was war then. We started fighting/wrestling (throwing soft pillows and a few hard punches!) It ended up with all the blankets, pillows and both mattresses on the floor. Then we had the good idea to lean the mattresses up against the bed (which is lofted about 4 1/2 feet of the ground) to creat a slide. Then we decided to lay the mattresses on the floor and jump off the beds onto them. It was great fun. Kind of dangerous, but fun. We had my video camera out filming it all, so someday we can show our kids all the fun stuff we did at college! Haha.
... and since then the day has been boring again... so with that, I'm signing off! Hasta Luego!! :)

Blueberries & Cherries
Well folks, I got my first speeding ticket yesterday. I was on my way home to watch my brothers homecoming coronationg b/c he was on the court and to suprise my family. Anyway, I got ticketed for doing 91 in a 65 by a county cop. He was really nice about it though, I think b/c it was my first speeding ticket. He told me he would have given me just a warning but he gives everyone going more than 15 mph over the speed limit a ticket, so he had to be fair and not play favorites. So now I have to go to court and ask for court supervision so my insurance doesn't go up. It's going to cost me about $160... and I am a poor college student with no money!!!
