Blogging again... finally!!

I am back in the blogging world. I got so busy during the summer with work, getting ready to move to school, work, friends & family, and well, a little bit more work, I forgot about my blog! I probably wouldn't have remembered it either, if my WONDERFUL aunt hadn't e-mailed me and told me to get online and blog about something so she could follow my ever exciting life(sarcasim) with-out using her cell phone minutes! Haha. :) I love you Son!

So anyway... I have been at college for just over a month and so far it's going good. The classes aren't too horribly bad. I only have 4 classes that add up to 13 hours, which is making adjusting to school pretty easy and smooth. I have a Spanish 101 class- it's an "elementary" spanish class and I had 2 years of spanish in high school so thus far I'm not having any problems! I also have Biology 111 which I like... the professor is a little bit wacky but do you expect from a biologist? (Sorry if I offend any scientists out there!) Psychology is probably my favorite class. The professor is about 85 years old and when she expains stuff I get more confused than I was before (and I think she does too) but I still love the class. I am fasinacated by the mind and the way it works... maybe thats because my family is so dysfunctional (I know, everyone's family is dysfunctional but seriously mine is dysfunctional almost to the extreme... but that's another blog on another day!) and most of my adolescent life has been pretty crazy. (but that's also another blog on another day!) My final class, and my most loathed one, is Philosophy. I just don't get it. At all. Any of it. What is the point of philosophy? It's so dumb...

My major (at least what I plan on it being) is Speech Pathology. For those who don't know what that is, it is a Speech Therapist. Ya know, the person who helps little kids correct speech impediments, helps stroke victims learn to talk correctly again, ect. It's a great field to be in. There are SO many job possibilities. Once I get my masters and am certified I will be able to work in a school, a hospital, a nursing home, have my own practice and do private in home sessions, ect. I hope to work in a school setting or to do the private in-home sessions for children. My back up plan is major in elementary education or special education. I love little kids!

The social part of college is... well... I haven't met that many people yet so... the people I have met are nice but I just haven't "clicked" with them. Everyone likes to go out and party alot, like most colloge students do, and I'm just not into that. I'm not against it, but it's not a priority to me to go out and get drunk every weekend (or weeknight for that matter) just because I can. And I'm not just saying that because my aunt reads this and might possibly tell my mom. She would never do that. Plus she knows that I only like to party with her and the baseball players! Haha! :) Also I have gone home alot of weekends. A big bonus is that I am rooming with one of my best friends so I have someone to talk to and hang out with. I think alot of people thought it wouldn't work out but so far it's been great! There is a couple of people from our hometown that live here and are about 3 or 4 years older than us, but we hang out with them alot. They have introduced us to a lot of people so we are making friends off campus.

Well, I better wrap things up here so I can finish reading for class tomorrow! Yippie! :)

Happy blogging everybody! Come back again! Oh yeah and leave me a msg. and let me know what you think! Remember, I'm still pretty new at this so I might need a little "coaching" from some professionals! :)

I went to a smaller school so I think it was easier to meet people. But remember, many, many people are in the same "how do I meet people" boat. I managed by finding people in my same major and by studying with people who had the same class as I did. Don't they have a campus bible study? Try that out. And my best advise of all and since you have the opportunity: Hang out at Starbucks!!! Maybe you'll meet people and maybe you won't but at least you'll have Starbucks.
